Year 7 RE at STM

Homework is due on Friday 17 October.

This week, 7BK2 will begin work in connection with Black History Month. We will be learning about the Kick Racism Out of Football campaign. (The weeks of action are 16 – 28 October.)

Your homework? To write a poem inspired by your learning in class. You will be learning what the Bible and the Catholic Church have to say about racism, and you will be learning about what footballers have to say about racism in sport. Be inspired to write a poem encouraging people to “kick racism out”!

I look forward to sharing the best poems here on the blog, and perhaps in the More&More school magazine. Do your best!

You have your “Word of God” assessment this week! So your homework is to revise in order to do well.

What could that include?

You could learn the key words, list the different types of writing in the Bible, work out when people might use the Bible, consider your favourite verses, or think about what “Sacred Scripture” and “Sacred Tradition” are.

We have learnt a bit about the Qur’an and how Muslims treat their holy book in class. So, for homework, I would like you to find five key facts about the Jewish holy book, the Torah. This could include how Jews treat and read the Torah as well as facts about who is believed to have written them, or what messages are contained within the Torah. For bonus points, you could also include a picture!

Also: a postcard for anyone who posts a link on here in the comments section to what they think is a good photo or image related to the Torah (as long as I think it is appropriate)! I look forward to you becoming more interactive!

Design a Bible bookmark. This should feature a relevant picture and your favourite Bible verse.

For help with choosing your verse, you could consult your red Gideons’ Bible, or Bible Gateway. I look forward to seeing your work!

Your homework is to make a new title page in your book for this term’s topic: “The Word of God”. The aims are listed below. Remember to add appropriate images and to colour it, so it is well presented. I think I’ll put photos of the best ones up here later!
