Homework 1.5

Homework due on Friday 10 October. (Apologies – the website was down last week, so this homework is late on, and by now all the homework should have been submitted. However, it hasn’t been, so I think it is worthwhile adding here.)

Copy out the Hail Mary, and begin to learn it.

Hail Mary, Full of grace,
The Lord is with you.
Blessed are you among women,
and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God,
Pray for us sinners,
now, and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

3.5 Homework

Homework is due on Monday 25 February.

Note: Following some confusion over the homework from last week, which we went over in class, and my missing lessons on Tuesday, I have decided to extend the deadline for this homework to the Monday after the half term holiday. I hope you all have a refreshing half term break.

Write a TAPS prayer (Thank you, Adoration, Please/Petition, Sorry) for display. You can type this or hand write it, but it should be neat so that I can put it on the wall. Suggested sentence starters are below, but you can word it however you want:

Our Father,

Thank you for …

I adore you because … You are great because …

I want to ask you to help … Please …

I am sorry for the times I … Please forgive me …

Amen.

3.4 Homework

Homework is due on Monday 4 February.

Write a conversation between a Christian, a Jew and a Muslim who are discussing prayer. They should compare and contrast their different beliefs and practices about prayer, and ask and answer questions that each person has about prayer. An example conversation has been started for you on the homework sheet that you will be given in class.

Consider:

* How often worshippers from each religion should pray
* How they prepare for prayer
* What prayers are said (set prayers or personal prayers?)
* What actions each worshipper uses during prayer

and so on. Look for similarities and differences in prayer between each religion. (Click on the link below to download the worksheet for yourself.)

3.3 Homework

Homework due on Monday 28 February.

Use the internet or library books to find out about the “western” or “wailing” wall and its importance for Jews. Write a paragraph on why it is so sacred to Jewish people.
• You must include at least three facts about the Wall.
• You should explain why it is so important and sacred for the Jewish people.
• You could include a picture of Jewish people praying at the Western Wall.

Click on the link to see a live webcam on the Western Wall.
There are interesting facts and images on this website, along with plenty of other links to websites about the Western Wall.

3.2 Homework

Homework to be completed for Friday 18 January.

Complete the worksheet on Christian symbols, many of which are used to help Catholics pray.

3.1 Homework

Homework due on Tuesday 14 January 2007.

Complete the front page for the new topic, God’s Call.

I think you should all know what you are doing by now, but if not, I’ll add some links to some previous good work! This topic deals with prayer, including Jewish and Muslim prayer.

This half term we will be learning about: God’s Call

By the end of the unit we will know:
• What is prayer?
• Are there different types of prayer?
• How did Jesus teach his disciples to pray?
• What is the Lord ’s Prayer?
• What is the Annunciation and Visitation?
• What is Advent?
• What is the Nativity?
• Who is Mary?
• What is The Hail Mary and the Glory Be?
