People often use prayer cards to help them pray. These often feature a brief biography of a saint, and a prayer that is inspired by that saint. Many cards have a picture of the saint on one side, and the prayer on the other. Make a prayer card for your House Saint.
It’s always nice to be able to share good work. Here is a front cover for our last topic, Leadership in the Church. There are lots of good key words on this page, and I like the use of colour. Well done.
I have to say, I’m not entirely sure why the picture is square – it was a rectangle! Never mind. I think you can still get the picture.
Your homework is to complete some research on Pope John Paul II. You will be using this information in your lesson on Tuesday, so it is important that you find out as much as possible! I will add some helpful links below.
Research Homework – Pope John Paul II – This is your homework sheet that I have given you in class today. If you want to print it out again, click on the link.
Since we have missed a few lessons recently, I gave you longer with the last homework, and did not set any this past week. I look forward to receiving great homework from you next week! And remember – on the few occasions I don’t set formal homework, there are always lots of ideas and websites that you can find while browsing through the posts on this blog!
Complete the front page for the new unit of work, Leadership in the Church. Use key words and pictures. You may wish to use images related to the Pope’s visit to America to illustrate your work.
These are the aims of the unit:
By the end of the unit we will know:
• How did Jesus call His disciples?
• Who were the disciples that Jesus called?
• How did the disciples help Jesus with his work?
• Who was Simon Peter and how did he progress?
• What happened at Pentecost?
• Who are Bishops?
• Who is the Pope and what do his titles mean?
Homework due on Tuesday 1 April (and no, that’s not an April Fool’s Day joke!)
Revision for your assessment next week. Your assessment will involve writing about the Sacrament of Reconciliation. You will be writing this in class, and already have most of the main notes that you will need. I suggest for revision you ask someone at home to ask you questions from your exercise books. You could also write out the main key words – contrition, confession, penance and absolution – and learn the definitions, for example by writing the word on one side of the card and the definition on the other.
Below I am including some websites that might help you with your revision.
Read the story of Zacchaeus (Luke 19:1-10). Retell this story as a storyboard, using words and pictures. I will give you a worksheet that you can complete this on, which I have also attached to this post.
Some of you will be able to explain what this story can teach us about Reconciliation.
Only use your first name, and don't give out your email address or website!
Remember: 2 stars and a wish - When writing comments, write down two good things about the work and one way in which the writer could improve.
